Privacy Policy

What We Collect

When you sign in, we receive your email address from your auth provider (Google or magic-link email). We store Cheer records — the bar you endorsed, the club you selected, and timestamps. For unauthenticated visitors we assign an anonymous cookie ID. We collect basic page-view analytics via Vercel Analytics (no personal identifiers).

How We Use It

Your data is used solely to run the service: computing club leaderboards and seasonal awards, enforcing one-cheer-per-club limits, and preventing abuse via IP rate limiting. Analytics help us understand overall usage and improve the product. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.

Authentication Providers

We support sign-in via Google OAuth and magic-link email. When you use Google OAuth, Google shares your email address with us under their own privacy policy. We do not receive your Google password or any other Google account data.

Cookies

• lc_anon — signed anonymous identity cookie, expires after 1 year. Used to associate Cheers with unauthenticated visitors.
• lc_primary_club — stores your last selected club as a convenience preference, expires after 1 year.
• Supabase auth cookies — session tokens set when you sign in, used to keep you logged in.

Third-Party Services

• Supabase — database and authentication hosting
• Vercel — application hosting and analytics
• Google Places API — bar name, address, and venue data
• Mapbox — static map images on bar detail pages

Each third party operates under its own privacy policy and data processing agreement.

Data Retention

Anonymous Cheers expire after 24 hours. Authenticated Cheers expire one year from when they were cast. Expired Cheers are retained in our database for historical award computations but are no longer active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data once our contact process is available (see Contact below).

Children

Local Cheers is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the service after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
